Consistency
Consistency is one of the most powerful aspects in a child's life (in an adult's life as well). When a child does something good, they should know the response and outcome. Also, when a child does something they should not do, they should know what the consequence will be as well.
Unfortunately, in education and untrained caregivers, the most 'consistent' aspect is in a child's life is the consequence. If we flip this paradigm, and we are more consistent in praise and positive recognition, how much of an impact will we have?

Studies have shown, rewarding and recognizing effort consistently has tremendous trends in successful adult life.
